Exhibition Pinball glass in Holiday!
The Mudac, museum of design and contemporary applied arts in Lausanne, is pleased to exhibit a new series of 4 pinball machine windows at the Lausanne Palace.
As the museum is currently closed to prepare its move to Platform 10, it is an opportunity to offer visibility to these works in such a prestigious setting. These pieces are part of a long-term deposit of a private collection at the mudac. Mr. Pierre Gonset, a Lausanne collector, has collected 121 pinball machine glasses from 1949 to 1994, the end of production at the main American manufacturers.
In the 1930s, the glass placed at the end of the pinball machine made its appearance, with two avowed goals: to attract the players and display their score. Today, many pinball windows have been separated from their original machines in order to be collected and exhibited as a true example of popular art.
