Sustainable Mobility

Free transportation cards for the city of Lausanne

Free public transportation cards for the city of Lausanne are offered to guests with each night stay booked at our hotel to allow them to use the metro and buses of the central Lausanne network free of charge for the duration of their stay.

Electric vehicle charging stations

Guests can charge their electric cars in the hotel car park at one of our 2 charging stations.

Building & exteriors

Renewable Energy

Since the beginning of 2022, 100% of the hotel's electricity comes from hydropower, which is renewable.

Heat recovery system

The hot water (approx. 50°C) coming out of the cooling water circuit of our chiller (York) has been diverted to preheat the sanitary hot water. Previously, this water circulated in a closed circuit and was cooled by passing through a cooling tower. This diversion has reduced the use of our boilers and allows us to reduce our gas consumption and therefore CO2 production.

Recycling

Recycling our soaps with Sapocycle

We recycle all of our used soap in collaboration with Sapocycle, a non-profit organisation that transforms soaps discarded in hotels into products that improve the lives of underprivileged individuals. The soaps are recycled by disabled people and then distributed to improve the sanitary conditions of families in need. For more information on the process and programme, please visit https://sapocycle.org/process/.

Donations of our liquid soap to the “Point d'Eau” association

We donate our remaining small bottles of liquid soap to the association “Point d'Eau” in Lausanne, which welcomes people in precarious situations and provides them with care, laundry and showers at reduced rates.

Transforming our food waste into renewable energy

All of our kitchen waste is collected and transformed into energy by BioEcoEnergie SA through a methanisation process. They start by transforming our food waste into biogas and fertiliser, called digestate. The biogas is then simultaneously transformed into electrical and thermal energy in a cogeneration engine. In 2021, our food waste contributed to the production of 9’540 kWh of electricity.

Reducing our food waste with the Kitro machine

The kitchen of our Côté Jardin restaurant, which also hosts our breakfast buffet, as well as our antipasti and dessert buffet for the restaurant at lunchtime and in the evening, has a Kitro machine. This device, developed by a Swiss startup, uses artificial intelligence to generate detailed reports around food waste and offer solutions to recover losses and optimise production.

Too good to go

Our Côté Jardin restaurant is selling surprise baskets made up of Sunday brunch surpluses via the Too Good To Go application, which recycles restaurant food surpluses. This partnership helps to combat food waste.

Unique projects

Our vineyard in the city centre

In its gardens, the hotel has a small vineyard that produces between 200 and 400 bottles of wine each year. In addition, our Michelin-starred chef Franck Pelux uses the wood from the vineyards to smoke one of his signature meat dishes.

Support for local start-ups

Our management strives to help local start-ups grow by offering their products or services in our hotel. As a city centre hotel, we aim to be a hub of innovation. Recently, for example, we added Dim Sums from the Swiss start-up "Madame Sum" to our bar menu.

Employee wellbeing

"Ô 36 Minutes"

Concerned about the well-being of our employees, we have opened a dedicated area where they can benefit from a fully equipped gym, a relaxation room, a television room and a well-balanced, quality canteen offering a different menu each day with a vegetarian option, at a preferential rate.

Electrically assisted trolleys for the housekeeping team

We offer motorised electrically assisted trolleys to transport their equipment more easily and to improve their comfort, reduce the risk of serious injury and increase their well-being.

D’CLIC committee

Employees of our hotel can join the D'CLIC committee, which helps to make their work life more pleasant and to help strengthen links between staff members. This committee also organises staff participation in local community service initiatives (Christmas tea time at the children's hospital, collection of donations, lake cleanups etc.). Through this committee, our employees can also participate in local sport and charity events (24-hour swimming race, 20 kilometres of Lausanne, etc.).

Discounts in local shops and luxury hotels

We offer all of our employees the opportunity to enjoy discounts in several local shops, hairdressers, bars and other businesses. They can also discover the "Suisse Deluxe" hotels, a collection of the most luxurious hotels in Switzerland, at ultra-preferential rates.
